Privacy Policy
CallerX: Spam & Number Search · Effective date: September 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CallerX: Spam & Number Search ("CallerX", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use our iOS app. We built CallerX to work on your device as much as possible. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Information we do not collect
- No account. CallerX has no sign-up or login. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- No address book upload. Your contacts are never uploaded to our servers or to anyone else.
- No call history. CallerX cannot see, record, or listen to your calls. iOS does not give apps access to your call log.
- No advertising or tracking. CallerX contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
2. Information processed on your device
- Contacts. With your permission, CallerX reads your contacts on your iPhone to show familiar names for known numbers, to avoid flagging people you know as spam, and to power the contact tools (find duplicates, merge, clean up, add monogram photos). Changes you make, such as merging or adding a photo, are written only to your own address book.
- Camera. If you use "Scan a Number", the camera is used to read a phone number from a card, poster, or receipt. Text recognition runs entirely on your device. No image is saved or sent anywhere.
- App preferences. Your language, VIP contacts, blocked and flagged numbers, scheduled call reminders, and numbers you have reported are stored locally on your device.
- Caller ID extension. Numbers you block or flag are handed to iOS through Apple's Call Directory (CallKit) extension so iOS can label or block them. This list stays on your device.
- Notifications. If you schedule a call reminder, a local notification is created on your device. No push server is involved.
3. Information sent to our lookup service
When you look up a number (by typing, pasting, dialling or scanning it), and when the app checks a number's spam status, only that phone number is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our lookup service. The service returns a likely caller name, the number's country, and how many people have reported it as spam.
If you choose to report a number as spam, the number, the reason you selected, and any optional note you type are sent to the same service so the community spam count can be updated.
These requests are not linked to your identity, your device, or your contacts. Like most web servers, the service may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and request time) for a limited period for security and abuse prevention.
4. How we use information
- To provide number lookup and spam-count results you request.
- To maintain community spam reports.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or tracking, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
5. Sharing
We do not share your information with third parties except where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and service.
6. Permissions and your choices
- You can allow or revoke Contacts and Camera access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security.
- You can enable or disable CallerX caller ID in Settings › Apps › Phone › Call Blocking & Identification.
- Deleting the app removes all data CallerX stored on your device.
- To ask about or request removal of a spam report or lookup record for your number, email us at the address below.
7. Data security
All communication with our lookup service uses HTTPS encryption. Data kept on your device is protected by iOS.
8. Children's privacy
CallerX is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
